Brief description of non-woven geotextile

January 04, 2019

Nonwoven geotextiles are also known as non-woven geotextiles. Non-woven geotextiles are classified into three types: thermal bonding, chemical bonding, and mechanical bonding, depending on the bonding method.

The heat-bonded non-Woven Geotextile is made by forming a fiber on a conveyor belt and passing it through two reverse-rotating hot rolls. After the web is subjected to a certain temperature, some of the fibers are softened and melted and adhered to each other. After cooling, it is solidified. The method is mainly used for the production of thin geotextiles, and the thickness is generally 0.5 to 1.0 mm. Since the fibers are randomly distributed, numerous openings of different sizes are formed in the fabric. Because there is no latitude and longitude, the anisotropy of the strength is not obvious.

The spunbonding method is one of the bonding methods, and is a product formed by melting, extruding, spinning into a web, and reinforcing a fiber. This fabric has a thin thickness and high strength and a high permeability. Due to the short manufacturing process, good product quality, variety specifications, low cost and wide application, it has developed rapidly in China in recent years.

The chemical bonding geotextile is applied to the fiber web uniformly by different processes. After the adhesive is cured, the fibers are adhered to each other to strengthen the mesh, and the thickness can be up to 3 mm. The mixture is a polyolefin, a polyester, or the like. It is also possible to roll before applying the adhesive to obtain a thinner and smaller pore size product. These products are used less in engineering.

The mechanical bonding method is to reinforce the fiber web with different mechanical tools. The most widely used method is the needle punching method and the water stab method. The needle punching method utilizes a plurality of needles which are arranged on the bottom plate of the needle punching machine and have a triangular or prismatic shape and hooked on the side, and are driven by the machine to reciprocate up and down, so that the fibers in the net are entangled with each other, thereby reinforcing the net. . The thickness of the product is generally above 1mm, the porosity is high, the permeability is large, the drainage performance is good, and it is widely used in hydraulic engineering. The spunlace method uses a high-pressure jet of water to inject into the fiber web to entangle the fibers with each other. Its products are relatively soft and are mainly used as sanitary products, which have not been applied in engineering.
